Leopard vs. Vista

October 30th, 2007

Engadget posted this nifty chart comparison of Leopard vs. Vista.

Leopard vs Vista

It is no way the final say of which OS is better – since not all categories have the same weight. Some people might put a premium in Gaming (Mac loses), while some don’t mind since Mac has iLife. It boils down to which OS you prefer and for what purpose you will use your computer for. There’s no point in arguing which one’s better – since, we all know the answer to that one anyway (hahaha)

Oh, the final score? Leopard: 46 | Vista: 41Anyway, I am thinking of upgrading to the newer cat (Tiger -> Leopard). But I hear it still has bugs. So I’m probably waiting till it’s more stable.

Hmm.. that’s funny…

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
discoveries, is not ‘Eureka!’ (I found it!) but ‘That’s funny …’-Isaac Asimov

Apparently also true for Computer Science, especially during the Testing & Debugging Phase : )

10 dirty little secrets you should know about working in IT

October 22nd, 2007

Let’s take a quick break from silly videos and cartoons to a more (de)pressing matter.

Being in the IT industry is great, IMO. But this article really nails those nasty things that come with being in this industry. You gotta learn to roll with these to survive.

Here are my favorite ones:
7.) Certifications won?t always help you become a better technologist, but they can help you land a better job or a pay raise
- PhilNITS, anyone? c’mon. but it does add a little wow factor to your resume. a little.

6.) Your nontechnical co-workers (and friends) will use you as personal tech support for their home PCs
- this one, i don’t mind at all. im glad to be of service :)

4.) You’ll spend far more time babysitting old technologies than implementing new ones
- this hurts the most. all those new technology out there just waiting to be learned and explored (like RoR)…

1.) IT pros frequently use jargon to confuse nontechnical business managers and hide the fact that they screwed up
- hey, we all screw up sometime. the common mistake though, is using this technique to technical people. hehehe.

October 9th, 2007

from Bitter Lies Dojo

what have we learned from this movie?
that Lex is totally gay for Superman.

well it makes sense, really. i mean, coz it could be true in some situations, you know, the whole – the more you hate, the more you love – way of thinking. and who hates superman the most? yep, sexy lexy(<-from ian).
