Obey Coding Standards Internet Mmmbop?

April 15th, 2009

Links for April 15, 2009:

  • Jeff asks, “What does it really mean to obey God?”.
  • A good read about Code Formatting standards – and why they matter (programmers can be so anal about these things).
  • According to a survey last year (Yahoo-Nielsen Net Index 2008) 3 out of 10 Filipinos in urban areas surf the net. That’s not much. Which means, there is still much more room for market growth.
  • What a strange mix! This is what happens if Taylor Hanson of Hanson (vocals), James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins (guitars), Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne (bass) and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick (drums) form a band: Tinted Windows. Their music is so…. ’90s, hahaha. (Not necessarily a bad thing!)

Horror story: A few years ago a co-worker committed into the repository one class without properly syncing. And with a totally different code format than the common format agreed on (Ctrl+A, Autoformat? PLZ NAW!). Imagine my surprise when the whole class was all red when I sync’ed. :|
