April 20th, 2009Obey Coding Standards Internet Mmmbop?
April 15th, 2009Links for April 15, 2009:
- Jeff asks, “What does it really mean to obey God?”.
- A good read about Code Formatting standards – and why they matter (programmers can be so anal about these things).
- According to a survey last year (Yahoo-Nielsen Net Index 2008) 3 out of 10 Filipinos in urban areas surf the net. That’s not much. Which means, there is still much more room for market growth.
- What a strange mix! This is what happens if Taylor Hanson of Hanson (vocals), James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins (guitars), Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne (bass) and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick (drums) form a band: Tinted Windows. Their music is so…. ’90s, hahaha. (Not necessarily a bad thing!)

Ahhhh… sunny days ^_^ my spirit is at its highest every time the sun comes out. no more snow, no more slipping and sliding, no more thermal pants and 3layers of undergarments over 2 layers of jackets and your winter coat.
i still get to wear boots though ^_^
and i’m looking forward to spring fashion! ^_^
cool and sunny, reminds me so much of baguio weather (smiles ^_^)
we spent easter at the house of our fellow ESF-er
(English Speakers Fellowship)
Ho and Laura Jane with their baby son Joseph
we were able to worship and pray for Japan and the World.
Amidst trials in life, we are victorious because God is Risen! Jesus Lives!
we tend to take that for granted, unaware that this is one of the most important things Jesus did for us.
He died for our sins AND rose again from the dead.
ESF was so much fun, its amazing to see people from different countries,
with different cultures and background coming together as one family. ^_^

Edit: Birds eat often and a lot (50% of their body weight). Elephants, well, no need for explanation! hahaha! This means, keep on learning, and don’t just keep it in – poop (share) what you learn!
‘Why pay P11.2B for poll automation?’
April 10th, 2009A Must Read!
MANILA, Philippines—A group composed mostly of information and communications technology (ICT) professionals challenged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to explain to the public why it has to spend P11.2 billion in automating the 2010 elections when it can implement an open election system (OES).
“The Comelec must explain to the public why they have to pay P7.3 billion more for an inferior system using precinct count optical scan (PCOS) when they could adopt OES which is more transparent and costs only P4 billion?” asked TransparentElections.org.ph head Gus Lagman.
…
“We presented the software to the Comelec Advisory Council and even offered to five (sic) it to them for free but we did not get any response from them,” said Lagman.
…
When asked if there is time to adopt the OES, Lagman said: “I am hoping our government officials will change their minds and adopt OES. It is never too late to do the right thing.”
